As Surfside members, it's essential that we stand together to protect our rights and promote fair, transparent governance within our HOA. Several key motions on the table this election directly address these issues. Motion A, the Surfside Bill of Rights, ensures that all members are treated equally, with transparency around major financial decisions and a presumption of innocence when compliance complaints arise. Motion G focuses on restoring impartiality by returning tree compliance enforcement to the Compliance Officer, removing the potential for conflicts of interest within the current committee structure.
Other motions also address significant concerns for our community. Motion H proposes adopting ElectionBuddy, a secure online voting platform to increase participation and improve election transparency, especially for remote members. Motion K calls for raising tree height limits to 24 feet to better manage flood risks and enhance our environment. Motion J seeks to stop the unfair collection of water fees from unmetered lots, and Motion L advocates for hiring a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) firm to ensure fair treatment for all members. Finally, Motion D introduces an independent ombudsman to assist seniors in navigating HOA rules and resolving issues. These motions are critical for building a more equitable and effective community—your vote can make that happen.
